I don't ride clipless because I found that clipless leads to overuse injuries, ie your foot is fixed to one position only and will not naturally move to the most orthopedically neutral position. Footwear in brick and mortar retail goes in and out of a fashion and right now, sturdy soled, low cut hiking style shoes which would be good for cycling are out and and ultra thin, flexible soled running type shoes which would be excruciating for cycling are in. So hence my need for a "street shoe" that is also good for cycling. I will terrible hot spots on the bottom my feet if soles of the shoes are too flexible. The soles of these are pretty close to a pair of work or hiking boots in flexibility. Not as stiff as a set of clipless bike shoes, so definitely walkable.Fit wise they are a slight bit narrower than most size 12 shoes. The shoe laces are pretty short, but I think it is deliberate to keep them out of the chainring. Pricewise these shoes are an excellent value as they are the same price as an ordinary pair of sneakers and not priced like a specialty shoe.
